Truename Magic
I don't know if you have Tome of Magic, or if you do have it wether or not you have read it.  If the answer to either of those is no, I suggest you do.  It is a great book.  WotC (Wizards of the Coast) has taken what could have been three totally different books, each with their own system, condensed them down, and given you one massive book.  Amazing.  Sadly though, this is not a rant about how great the book is, it is a rant about how poor one third of that book is....namely the truename magic.
What went wrong?!?!
Somehow, what was a really cool concept, was brutally and savagely murdered by horrendous game mechanics.  (Side note:  I am allowing the Truenamer as is in my campaign, though I suggest you hold out.  I am, in my LIMITED off time, trying to rework the entire system into something usable, something that lives up to the potential.)
